Avenue Wagram, Paris

One of Paris' many tree-lined boulevards, made all the more photogenic by the rain-soaked sidewalks.

The scene was originally shot on Fujichrome slide film in a Canon EOS-620 through an EF 35-105 mm lens.
I like it in color, but decided this toned black and white version better captures the timeless appeal of Paris.

yes, the rain glistening on the sidewalks is the secret star of this shot! it makes them look like obsidian glass – very "noir"! in fact, i'm expecting bogart idling by any second now, clad in a drenched trench ; ), hiding an ironic smirk under his black fedora, and mumbling the strangest gibberish under his breath: "nicolas? no, wrong again! this is ridiculous! why did i even say those words? we'll always have paris! gee, i can't even remember her name! ella? ilse? elsa??? ah, what the heck. let's go ask nicolas for some bourbon!"

    ; )

    greetings, sabine.
