Along the Yellow Breeches

A moment of serenity in the dappled late afternoon sun of a late summer’s day.
And from the fallen leaves, can autumn be far away?

This inviting spot along the Yellow Breeches Creek is on
the grounds of the Allenberry Resort in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania.

This tributary of the Susquehanna River in south-central Pennsylvania is fed from a limestone source and can, in times of heavy rainfall, become off-color. During the Revolutionary War, the British troops found this out, first-hand. Story has it that when the Redcoats washed their white breeches in these waters, the garments came out distinctly yellow!

The creek is a favorite spot for fly fishing.

The image was captured on Ektachrome-64 slide film in a Nikon FE2 with Nikkor 35-135mm lens.

It is available in archival gallery prints and as a custom printed Photo Note Card.
