Another view of the Washington Monument in its restoration scaffolding, seen this time from inside the Lincoln Memorial,
looking down the length of the Reflecting Pool. In the distance, at the far end of the National Mall, on this very clear night,
the dome of the U.S. Capitol. The light at the top of the dome indicates Congress is still in session.

great abstract feel to this "very vertical view" ; ))! it's a little like a stolen glimpse into a giant keyhole, too. and i like how the different lights are corresponding in this shot: the brightly lit rocky walls of the lincoln memorial as a whole vs. the many individual lights on the capitol and momument in the back, which does in fact look like a piece of jewelry with lots and lots of tiny diamonds – catchers of light! – on them. won't go deeper into the symbolic and metaphoric meaning of light, overcoming the "dark ages" by means of enlightenment, four scores and seven years ago, lincoln, democracy, equal rights for all, and… congress still in session. ; )) – but it's all there! greetings, sabine.
